Dr. Alison Wielgus received her BA in Cinema Studies from New York University and her MA and PhD in Film Studies from the University of Iowa. She is a Professor of Media Studies at UW-Superior. Her research focuses on feminist film theory and genre. Her current research focuses on issues of feminism, trauma, and policing in female detective post-network television. Her areas of knowledge include gender, sexuality, and race in media, genre, post-network television, and experimental film and media. She regularly teaches core courses in film studies, media studies, and communication and advanced courses in crime television, LGBTQIA+ media, horror film, romantic comedies, and media theory.
